Kara Swisher (@karaswisher) is host of On with Kara Swisher and co-host of the Pivot podcast. She’s editor-at-large at New York Magazine and a CNN contributor. Swisher is the co-founder of the former technology website, Recode, and tech conference, Code, which is the country’s premier conference on tech and media. Considered the top reporter in the tech game, Swisher has been reporting on the industry since the early 1990s. Once called “Silicon Valley's most feared but revered journalist,” Swisher has established herself as the oracle of the tech world with unrivaled access to the industry's most significant leaders. She’s also a New York Times bestselling author for her memoir, Burn Book: A Tech Love Story (Simon & Schuster, February 2024). 

Chief Executive Officer, Uber

Dara Khosrowshahi is the CEO of Uber, where he has managed the company’s business in more than 70 countries around the world since 2017.

Dara was previously CEO of Expedia, which he grew into one of the world’s largest online travel companies. A seasoned executive with a background in both engineering and finance, Dara oversaw a number of acquisitions that bolstered Expedia’s offerings and aggressively invested in mobile, which now accounts for more than half of Expedia’s traffic. He was also beloved by Expedia’s employees and named one of the Highest Rated CEOs on Glassdoor. Dara was promoted to Expedia CEO after serving as the Chief Financial Officer of IAC Travel, a division of IAC, which purchased Expedia in 2002 and spun it off in 2005. He was also instrumental in the expansion of IAC’s portfolio of travel brands.

Before joining IAC, Dara served as Vice President of Allen & Company and spent a number of years as an analyst. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Expedia and Catalyst.org and was previously on the board of the New York Times Company. He’s a passionate advocate for refugees in crisis around the world, having himself left Iran during the Iranian Revolution at the age of 9.

Dara grew up in Tarrytown, New York, and received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Brown University.

Co-founder and CEO, Aurora

Chris Urmson is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Aurora, and one of the foremost pioneers in the self-driving industry. With over two decades of experience advancing autonomous vehicle technology, Chris began his journey as director of technology for Carnegie Mellon’s DARPA Grand and Urban Challenge teams. He later helped launch and lead Google’s self-driving car project, now known as Waymo. In 2017, he co-founded Aurora alongside Drew Bagnell and Sterling Anderson to bring the benefits of self-driving technology to market safely, quickly, and broadly. Chris holds more than 60 patents, has authored over 50 publications, and earned a doctorate in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Engineering in computer engineering from the University of Manitoba.

Associate Professor, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Dr. Johnathon P. Ehsani is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a leading behavioral scientist whose work explores how transportation systems can advance public health. His research spans adolescent driver safety, distracted driving, older adult mobility, and the public acceptance of emerging technologies—including autonomous vehicles—and has resulted in more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 invited scientific presentations.
 
Dr. Ehsani advises the U.S. Department of Transportation and multiple state agencies on driver education and licensing reform, and he currently chairs the National Academies’ Transportation Research Board Committee on Vehicle User Learning and Competency. He received his doctorate from the University of Michigan and is globally affiliated faculty with the Bahá’í Institute for Higher Education.
